Use open internet explorer site link analysis

we all know the link to the search engine optimization is very good, good link or even better, but the “good” link profile in the end what is it? For a website, organized links are often much easier than normal websites. It is also easy to involve outliers. A great link or a spam link will break the balance? Probably not. Simply put, when you filter hundreds or thousands of links, it’s easy to be distracted by these anomalies.

We have tried to link the quality of visibility to metrics such as domain authority and page authority. These are very useful concepts, but now we are at the other extreme-there is only one number to represent very complex things. The problem is that we really don’t have much in between, a way to understand the quality of our link profile at a glance.

Link analysis: The experiment

of this blog I really started to wonder whether it is possible to use our activities Moz indicators and charting visibility link. I went through many changes until I finally found a process using Open Site Explorer. The basic procedure is as follows:

enter the site in the open site resource manager (or OSEs) in

select “Show [Tracking 301]”

selects “[only the outer Page]”

Select “to [all pages on the root domain]”

results Export to CSV/Excel to

calculate the maximum page authority (PA) of each domain and

divide max PA into 1-10, 11-20, etc.

Figure Drawing bucket

The result is a complete link field distribution by the highest authority in those domains page. This sounds more complicated than it actually is, so let’s see its actual effect.

Profile

1: High quality

Let’s start with a high-quality domain-I will make it simple. Due to export up to 10,000 links Open Site Explorer, so I limit this profile is restricted to the home page:

high quality links

you may be surprised to find that, even for a high authority site, most of the pages are still in the lower half of authority . The simple fact is that even on a powerful website, most of the actual pages that link to it are much weaker than their backend domains.

Profile 2: Medium quality

now, let it with a solid but less authoritative Internet site, my own blog for comparison. I got reliable backlinks from some good sources.

Links Profile – medium quality

here, you can see most of my backlink pages 0-10 in the bucket, it is a clear sign of my inferiority (sniff, sniff), but the curve still gradually Ping, I got some reliable indications on the PA chain.

Profile 3: Low quality

Finally, let’s clean up some trouble of the website (of course, we will be anonymous) in questions and answers. This is not a heinous black hat website, by just a low enough quality links, we suspect that the site in question:

a link Visibility – low quality

closer look, you will see an obvious 0-10 barrels, followed by It is a rapid decline, with almost no advantage page to fill this gap. At first glance, this may seem like a subtle difference, but look at the range of P/E ratios between 20-70 and you will see the difference.

You can download the spreadsheet (1.9 megabytes) and try it yourself. Simply export your personal data from OpenSiteExplorer (as described above) and paste it into the first worksheet (“OSE data points”). The second table (“Domains”) will automatically strip the subdomains, while the third table (“Max PA”) is a pivot table that calculates the maximum page permissions for each subdomain and then divides it into 10 buckets.

Excel’s Pivot needs a little trick to refresh. Other pages and final graphics should refresh automatically. I haven’t tested this on a Mac, so feel free to comment and provide useful corrections.

This technology is a work in progress. It is not just a way to search for link profiles, not a hard analysis strategy. If you try it and find something worrisome, please let us know in the comments.

Update -DA profiles some of the people inquired about the appearance of the domain authority (DA) of the configuration file in the comments. Since the SEOmoz team re-standardized some DA data points last week, these curves are very similar in shape
